‘the hands my mother gave me’ is an original handmade linocut print.

From the artist:

“I’ve never really liked my hands. Small in size, stubby fingers, wide fingernails, veins too prominent - never wanted to draw attention to them. But these hands can and have created so many beautiful things. They play music and have given life to so many songs on so many different instruments, they’ve created endless amounts of sweets and cakes that played a part in peoples birthdays and weddings. They write, draw, paint, carve. They just MAKE. Side by side they are identical to her hands in appearance and ability. I have grown to love them, for these are the hands my mother gave me.

The resting hands lay amidst a background of lotus leaves and seeds in reference to our Vietnamese heritage.”

Each print has been designed, carved, hand burnished, and pulled by hand. This is a limited edition run of the black print with only 15 made, after which there will be no more printed in this colour scheme. Each print has been signed and numbered by the artist.

Due to the nature of linocut prints, each print will inevitably have printing differences and slight variations between one another, adding to the distinct characteristic of linoprints as each one will be truly unique. We cannot guarantee that your print will be the one shown in the photo.
